Preserving a Piece of History

Case Studies

Naomi’s charming weatherboard cottage in Caversham, South Dunedin is more than just a home – it’s a piece of local heritage. Once on the verge of being demolished, the cottage has been beautifully renovated and restored.

As part of the restoration, Naomi wanted to bring the cottage up to Healthy Homes standards so she could have a comfortable, quiet, and warm home.

Having used a product similar to Insulmax® years ago when living in Australia, she was already familiar with how effective it could be. “We’ve done a lot of renovations over the years, and Insulmax® seemed like the right solution for an older weatherboard house,” she says. “We did think about installing batt-type insulation ourselves, but we didn’t feel too confident, plus time was an issue.”

No more road noise

Naomi says one of the main reasons they chose Insulmax® was to block out some of the exterior noise. Located on a busy hillside road, the cottage used to echo the sound of passing traffic. “It’s so much quieter inside now,” she says. “A home needs to be a peaceful place, and older weatherboard homes can be very loud. It’s made such a difference.”

Of course, warmth was another key factor. “We’re all set now for those chilly Dunedin winters!”

Quick and Easy

Naomi says she appreciated how fast and responsive the team at Insulmax® were. “Conan was very quick with the quote, and they were so friendly and obliging throughout the process,” she says.

“The team used thermal imaging to confirm that the insulation had been evenly installed throughout the walls,” she says. “It gave me peace of mind that everything was done properly.”

As Naomi moves into her beautifully restored heritage cottage, she says Insulmax®’s combination of warmth, quiet, and excellent service has made all the difference. “I would definitely recommend Insulmax® to anyone,” she says. “The whole experience was so pleasant, and the team was incredibly supportive and kind.”
