“We had mould on the walls and ceilings. The walls were wet, the windows were wet. I was always wiping down the walls to try and keep them dry. We just didn’t know what else to do,” says Fleur.
The Daniels were so frustrated with their damp home, they were at the point of selling. And it’s easy to see why. Their two-year-old son was constantly sick with severe croup and often ended up in the ED for treatment.
“We had spent so much money on the house,” says Fleur. “On top of everything else, we’d recently replaced the roof and put in a new kitchen. Even with all the steps we’d taken, we still had a dehumidifier going 24/7.”
With the thought of selling their home looming large, Fleur made one last-ditch effort and started researching wall insulation. Having a background in the building industry, she knew that their home’s brick cavities were likely playing a role.

“I wanted to be sure it was safe and non-toxic for my children, and I needed to be confident it was going to make a difference.
“They left behind a sample of the product. I had it sitting in a bowl of water for a few weeks – I just wanted to be doubly sure it wasn’t going to absorb anything!” she says.
With all questions answered and feeling confident the product was the right choice, the Daniels went ahead with the installation.
“The process was incredibly straightforward. The team did the installation with virtually no disruption to us.”
And the difference has been life changing.
“It was immediate,” says Fleur. “As soon as the installation was done, the house was warmer and dryer. No more mould on the walls and ceilings. No moisture on the walls. Our house is so incredibly warm and dry now, it’s fantastic. We’ve hardly used the fireplace at all this winter – we still have loads of firewood left!”
Not only is it warmer and dryer, but quieter too.
“The difference in noise was huge,” says Fleur. “It’s really quiet. I remember just after the installation, my husband was out mowing the lawn and I hadn’t even realised because I couldn’t hear the mower.”
From being at the point of selling out of frustration to having a warm, dry, healthy home for their children to grow up in has changed everything for the Daniels. “We really love our home now. Having Insulmax® installed has been the best thing we’ve ever done.”
